Dark Matter Part 2

Hi again, I am back for part two of Dark Matter write-up.

So, I left off explaining how well Michelle Paver had made this book, and that the main character, Jack was up to his knees in trouble. Ghost!

*Spoiler*

Anyway, on Jacks last stay in this place, things get pretty hectic. This ghost appears inside his cabin, facing away from him. It slowly turns to face him. After only just waking up Jack is confused but can still feel afraid. He can sense the hate the ghost has for him and runs. This is when the cabin get set on fire by the ghost. (This is because that it  is how the living soul of the ghost died, being set alight) Jack runs for the water for rescue has arrived still terrified, he gets into the rowing boat with his dog. The boat only had a certain number of men on board a moment ago, for some reason there was another figure, sitting right next to him! But it couldn't be! Yes, it was the ghost. The men panicked and Gus fell of the boat and so did Jack, one of them dies, but that is for you to find out.

I have only briefly scratched the surface of Dark Matter, and I wont tell any more about what happens! Read it for yourself, you wont regret it!

Dark Matter

Hello, it's me again, boythatcanread. I wanted to post about a book have have recently finished reading. The book is called 'Dark Matter' by Michelle Paver. Amazing. I loved this book. It only took me three weeks to read, but non the less, I seriously recommend reading this. It is a creepy but interesting book and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. Naturally, I read it at night time which added the ghostly, still atmosphere.

I picked this book because I fancied a horror and I rarely read them. Michelle Paver has written this very well indeed, a great story and a very chilling read this has been. Pun intended.

Dark Matter is set in the cold Artic North, a place called Spitsbergen in the 1930's. Jack, a poor man from London sets out on a scientific expedition to Spitsbergen with four others, Hugo, Alge and Gus. Before he gets there, the Scandinavian sailors who crew of the boat seem nervous about visiting this place, for reasons Jack has yet to understand.

On arrival all seems well, apart from some strange sightings, but unfortunalty, for one reason or another, his expedition members have to leave. This leaves Jack alone. In pitch black darkness. By himself.

Soon enough, Jack encountered more strange sightings. He reads Gus' diary and finds out that Gus too had seen things. Jack starts to be haunted by a dead trapper, who was brutally murdered by miners years ago. Him and Isaak the Husky dog are still alone. He often sees a dark figure of the trapper and hears footsteps. Anxiety creeps in and Jack need to keep his head.

What will happen to Jack? Will his friends come and rescue him from this evil place? Will he die?

Stay tuned to see part 2 of this post.

I love the smell of books in the evening...

Hello, this is my first post on reading, and as you already know, my 'name' is boythatcanread.
Since the age of four years old, I have read many books, from children's books like 'Harry Potter', by J.K Rowling, to adult books like 'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time' by Mark Haddon (one of my favourite books). Because I have taken the great opportunity of reading ever since I have been able to, more often than not, I would start to read a book that wasn't the one for me, especially when I was very young. This sometimes put me off reading, but luckily only temporarily. If you havebeen in this situation and you feel that books aren't your thing, I would recommendyou re-consider and you may find yourself being lost in an amzing book sometime in the future.

Reading for me is very relaxing and to be honest, when I read my mind is taken away from all of those things that that I don't want to worry about. I usually read in bed at night, probably because I'm too busy doing other things during the day like school etc. As much as I enjoy reading, there is small problem. I only ever read half an hour to and hour max per day, or should I say night? Haha. Anyway, because of this it can literally take me some months to finish a medium length book of about 500 pages.

Next topic. I don't have a favourite author, nor do I have a favourite type of book. This is because I often mix up my reading and I read different types of books. Unfortunately, I only read a book every few months.

Enough for one post,
